What happened to Mrs. USC???

So, ladies and gentleman, Mrs. US Continental was trying to be back in her glory day, and was taking a Jazz dance class. WAS LOVING IT!!!

Well, one week ago today, I landed wrong out of a turn, prior to a jump, and I proceeded to tear my ACL, meniscus, and sprain my MCL in my left knee. Does that slow down a National Pageant Title Holder?!?!??! NOT THIS ONE!!

I made TWO appearances last week after it happened! What a trooper! On Wednesday, October 14th, I attended the Heart Walk Celebration Party with the Host Committee, and many members of the community committed to raising money and awareness for heart disease and stroke.

This is me with Gina Melby, CEO of JFK Medical Center, and the 2009 Heart Walk Chair.

This is the Host Committe. We are the movers and shakers. We are the ones that made it happen. Logistically speaking, without this group of amazing people, the Heart Walk just wouldn't happen! GO TEAM!!

This is Mr. Ron Walker. He was our Red Cap Ambassador this year. This amazing man was an Olympic Athlete, and has had TWO heart transplants! He made his way around to many companies, and events sharing his story with others, inspiring them to continue raising the necessary funds for heart research. He is the reason we do what we do!

The very next day, Thursday October 15th, I attended the Care Today, Cure Tomorrow event at ZED 451 in Boca Raton. This event raises money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. My family recently discovered that my little nephew William has been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). My brother Brandon and his wife Arlee are in for a journey. They are both amazing, and I am sure little William will teach them things along the way.

After finding out his diagnosis, I reached out to the local chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to let them know I wanted to get involved. I was contacted by Andrew Felix, the Director of Special Events for the Ft. Lauderdale Chapter of CFF. He asked me to attend this event, and I was honored to be able to do so. I brought along backup since I was on crutches! My friend, and US Continental sister queen Ms. Palm Beach County 2010, Jenny Govert attended to help me sell raffle tickets! We rocked it!! Here are a few pictures from this amazing event! ENJOY!!

This is Andrew Felix.
Me with Ms. Palm Beach County 2010, Jenny Govert. Thanks Jenny!!

This is my brother, Brandon and his beautiful wife Arlee. God Bless them on their journey. I'll be right by your side. I love you both!

On the left is Laurie Capano, the Chair for the event, and her son Nicholas in the middle is living with CF. She chaired the event in the honor of her husband who passed away in 2007. He always held this event, and she wanted to continue in his honor. They raised a TON of money for CFF that night!

Ok, so I can do these events even on crutches, but man I was EXHAUSTED!
Until next time!
Cheers!
Monica
